Born on July 16, 1979 in Osaka, Japan, Ryo was diagnosed with autism as a child. His jazz-loving father strongly influenced Ryos love for jazz when he was growing up. His portraits are simple, yet vividly capture the personality of the subject. He moved to Eugene, Oregon, USA with his family at age 11, where he now lives. His younger brothers Rei and Ken are both musicians.
