This hands on, fun training will take place at Annie Mim’s Community Garden North, 255 Maxwell Road, Eugene, Oregon 97404 (Bus #51 or #52).
This class includes 2 raised beds for adaptive gardening and using adaptive tools for anyone with special needs to make gardening fun and not seem like work.
We are also invited to work in the whole campus of gardens which includes mixed veggies, flowers, fruits, and herbs in exchange for sharing the harvest of everything as it becomes ready.
You will learn how to grow your own food, including how to plant, maintain and harvest your crops, and how to share the bounty and the reward of being with old and new friends.
Please remember to bring a hat, garden gloves, and a water bottle. If standing is difficult, bring a folding chair for your comfort.
Maggie is an experienced organic gardener/landscaper/horticultural therapist and Frankie is an avid backyard gardener, just beginning his seed to food experience. They invite you to join with them as you work together to prepare the raised garden beds using organic materials including soil, fertilizer, seeds and plant starts, and learn appropriate watering and weeding techniques throughout the season.
