Monthly Autism Rocks Artist Guild Meeting
Artist Guild monthly meetings are scheduled via Zoom on the last Saturday of every month at 10am Pacific time. Email art@kindtree.org for the access code. These meetings are hosted by guest artists with open discussions on a variety of topics such as marketing ideas, creative processes, best materials for specific projects, etc. This program provides support for artists based on their requested need and want.
September 24th meeting will feature Eric Thompson. “Hi. I’m Eric Thompson and I have Autism. I’m the leader of the Jackson County Self Advocates in Medford Oregon. In addition to my group I also participate in the Studio of Living Opportunities. It’s a great place where people with disabilities do art as well as drama. When I created my first book I had an idea. I read a story to my nieces and decided to create my own story. It’s an official book that you can buy on Amazon. It’s called Autism A Personal Perspective and The Legendary Hero. Originally I had many characters made like stick figures and now my paintings have been getting better and better. Some of my art have my characters in it. And some are just different in their own way. HERE
October 29th meeting will feature Sam Mitchell, a teenager living with autism, who brings you “Autism Rocks and Rolls” podcasts. Although Sam has had obstacles in the past and still has daily struggles, he is using this platform to take away the stigma off of autism and other conditions that many think are disabilities. Our Festival of Art for All August 6th was awesome – we sold over $1,000 worth of art! We offer Art Classes in STiLE – one in person in Eugene, and one online from anywhere, Scholarships are available, just email stile@kindtree.org and ask..
