Dear friends,
If you are thinking of donating to my favorite local non-profit, but aren't sure how much, I would like to tell you why this group has been so incredibly important to my family, and why a grant would be very impactful for them.
My son was, after a long road of specialists, diagnosed with Autism. We heard about the Autism Rocks summer camp and attended the first time when my son was 9. As usual, he had a difficult time. He did not fit in; he behaved inappropriately to gain attention. As a matter of fact, I thought we would be asked to leave the camp due to his behaviors.
But Autism Rocks does not exclude. Everyone is welcome, and their highly skilled support teams make sure that everyone feels safe and has fun.

My son is now 25 years old, and has evolved from a troublesome child to a youth leader at our summercamp. We both switched from participants to
volunteers over 10 years ago. For myself, the camp has provided me with a feeling of belonging for myself and my child; a place we are not just tolerated but welcomed and cherished.
Autism Rocks is truly a remarkable group that has made a needed home for so many “outsiders”.. Many of our participants tell us that the camp is highlight of their year, and they are ready to sign up again the day after camp ends. We distribute over $4,000 worth of scholarships every year to ensure that everyone who wants to can attend our camp. We operate on a skeleton crew of loyal volunteers…we do not have access to wealthy donors and we run on a shoestring budget. Your donation would help us fortify our camp with needed new activity funds and bolster our scholarship fund.
Thank you for listening. Autism Rocks!
