This group meets monthly on the second Monday of the month from 4:30 to 6 pm in person at KindTree’s office in MindWorks (masks and social distance required), 207 E 5th Ave Suite 220, and also via ZOOM with the access code below the photo.  Check the weekly calendar for confirmation. 

The January 11 second Monday Adult (17 and older) Peer Support Group can be joined either in person at Eugene Mindworks, 207 E 5th Ave Suite 220, Eugene, OR 9740, and also on Zoom (see access below photo). We have an 8 person limit for the in-person part with registration required as per COVID-19 rules. Contact Omo at momogrosso@kindtree.org to register.

A standing tradition in Eugene, this group is for high-functioning adults (17 to much older than that) on the Autism/Asperger’s spectrum. All are welcome, no matter where you live. This is a safe place to share with others on the spectrum about things from living on your own to jobs to getting along with folks and so much more. Group members choose the topics, and there are from 12-20 participants each month. Michael is an experienced facilitator who is also a parent of an adult on the spectrum and President of KindTree-Autism Rocks.

Beginning Art with Frank L Allen @ Via ZOOM

Beginning Art with Frank Louis Allen Spring Term March – May 2021
Mondays from 10:00am – 11:00am for ten sessions.

Frank Louis Allen is a well know artist who also happens to be on the Autism Spectrum. He hopes to teach a relaxed approach to improving your art practice and overcoming personal challenges to this.

Frank will be using materials and art supplies common in many households: Pencil, crayon, or Pen, Paper or pad, so get them ready! Zoom access information will be provided upon completed registration.

Despite being a successful artist Frank is also legally blind having just 20 degrees of vision. He hopes to show through these lessons that art is a force for growth in us all, and he hopes to help us overcome any anxiety about doing so, whilst also teaching good, solid drawing techniques.

$136 per 10 week Session or Agency Rate

Social Skills Discussion Group with Mary-Minn @ ZOOM

KindTree has started up Doris Germain’s social skills class again, via Zoom, facilitated by past president Mary-Minn Sirag until Doris, who will take up the reins again, can join in when the germs subside and social contact is safe again. Mary-Minn is figuring that some of us can use more face time with our autism family. All are welcome to attend from anywhere you are.

Youth Exercise with Jordan Wheeler  Spring Term March 16 – May 18, 
Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00 pm via Zoom, 10 sessions

Hi there! My name is Jordan Wheeler and I am in my second-year studying Kinesiology (the study of movement). My passions are exercise, art, and helping others 🙂 I have a special place in my heart for youths diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. I am devoted to helping people with autism stay active and feel welcome in the community.

I will be holding an exercise program for youths diagnosed with autism from March 16th – May 18th.
This program will be adventure focused and allow the kids to step into their imagination. Each session will have an adventure theme and have the kids perform exercises to complete the adventure. Some adventure themes that the kids will participate in are a treasure hunt, an archeological dig, a safari, and an underwater excursion. There is no equipment needed for this class, just a positive attitude.

Learn to design and make individualized beaded jewelry bracelets and more.  These lessons and techniques will help participants become part of a continuum of craftspeople throughout the ages, as we still use basically the same ancient techniques to make our crafts.

Participants will be notified regarding needed supplies and tools before the sessions begin.

Autism Rocks Parent Support Group via Zoom

Over the last year parents have reached out asking us to host a parent meeting, and we’re finally able to do so. We welcome parents of a person with autism of any age. KindTree President Michael Omogrosso is a skilled facilitator who has hosted our Peer Support Group for well over a decade. He is a parent, activist, musician, sweet soul and KindTree’s President. He  also hosts a parent support group at our Friends & Family Camp every year on Sunday morning. He has offered to do even more: Michael will be hosting, via Zoom, a Parent Support Group and monthly Artist Guild meetings.
